Worlds Village
Set beneath the pine trees of Esplanade Park, the Worlds Village is central to all the sailing venues and activities of the World Championships. It’s also the focus of the Worlds Festival, a 16 day celebration of West Australian culture and lifestyle as well as the sport of sailing.
A main stage and large video screens will keep visitors up to date with the sailing action on the water while also featuring a range of activities from cooking to live bands, Zumba classes and international music.
Surrounding the stage will be a range of family entertainment, food stalls, exhibitions, children’s activities and demonstrations relating to sailing and other sports.
The Worlds Village is only a short walk from Bathers Bay and the excitement of close, inshore yacht races or the intensity of one-on-one sailing in the Women’s Match Racing event in Fremantle’s Inner Harbour.
The Village is also close to Fremantle’s “cappuccino and restaurant strip” on Market Street and South Terrace to the north and the Fishing Boat Harbour to the south. It all adds up to a place of excitement where Perth and Fremantle locals will have the chance to meet and mingle with the sailors, coaches and officials and enjoy traditional West Australian hospitality.
Make Fremantle and the Worlds Village your destination this December to celebrate this major global event on our doorstep and to enjoy the best of what Fremantle, Perth and Western Australia has to offer.
