The Worlds Festival and Village....the place to be during the Perth 2011 Sailing World Championships

The 2011 WORLDS FESTIVAL is an exciting and diverse programme of cultural activities that will showcase our Australian lifestyle, the sport of sailing and the arts. It takes place over the duration of the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships.

Held in Fremantle, an historic port city, 40 minutes from the CBD of Perth, the Festival will boast more than 250 FREE events, activities and shows, focused in the specially created WORLDS VILLAGE.

Fremantle’s grassy Esplanade will be transformed into a global village celebrating sailing, the World Championships and Australia’s multi-cultural heritage.  The wider Fremantle area will be alive with action for every age to enjoy this prestigious event.

The Worlds Village will feature:

  • an array of stalls highlighting sailing and other related sporting activities
  • the countries participating in the Sailing World Championships
  • food and other activities including a children’s corner to keep the kids entertained
  • and a main stage with large screens will keep spectators up to date on the day’s sailing, as well as entertaining visitors with music, family entertainment, cooking demonstrations, Zumba classes and much more.

Art Galleries and venues throughout Fremantle, including Little Creatures Brewery, Kidogo Gallery, the Moores Building and Victoria Hall, will host a range of wonderful Worlds Festival exhibitions, productions and music.

Bather’s Beach and the Fishing Boat Harbour will be alive with sailing demonstrations and other water-sport and beach activities.

Make Fremantle your destination in December to celebrate a major global event on our doorstep and to enjoy the best of what Western Australia can offer.

And, there’s also the continuing excitement of being in the midst of this year’s biggest international sailing competition.
