Imagine moving nearly 1,000 boats and related equipment from all corners of the globe, at the same time, and getting each and every one to Perth safely and in a timely manner.

This is a phenomenal task - particularly as Perth is one of the most isolated cities in the world - although this is exactly what must happen for the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships.

In December 2011, 4,000 official personnel and 1,400 international competitors will fly to Perth and every one of them will require that their boats and related sailing equipment arrive safely and on time, in Perth.  The equipment will be coming from America, Europe, Africa, Asia and beyond and it must all arrive in one piece before the start of the Sailing World  Championships on 3 December, 2011.

To ensure that this massive task is undertaken and completed with minimum complications, Perth 2011 has joined forces with “the best in the business” – DB Schenker sportsevents.

Perth 2011 Director Commercial Operations Darren Beazley today announced the important partnership between DB Schenker and Perth 2011 and is delighted to have such a strong team on board.

“The movement of all the sailing equipment for the World Championships is such a huge undertaking so it was necessary for Perth 2011 to team up with the leaders in this industry, to ensure that everything is moved quickly and easily from overseas and arrives here intact,” Mr Beazley said.

“Whether it’s by ocean, air, road or rail, DB Schenker sportsevents will get it there on time and without any issues.

“DB Schenker has a proven track record in offering these vital services, already providing the logistics for similar sailing events, including the Volvo Ocean Race and Sail Melbourne.”

Perth 2011 is the main qualifier for the 2012 London Olympic Games - something
DB Schenker knows about - as they provided the freight forwarding and customs clearance
for several Olympic and Paralympic Games. The depth of expertise and specialisation is
evident in the fact that DB Schenker has a dedicated and highly specialised team - DB
SCHENKERsportsevents, just to manage logistics for major sporting events, such as the
Olympics, World Cup, Commonwealth Games, Asia Games and more.

DB Schenker sportsevents Manager (Australia) Sabine Schlosser said experienced sportsevents logistics specialists can handle the logistics for national and international mega sports events at any location and time.

“DB Schenker sportsevents offers solutions and all the necessary logistics support services to enable athletes, Member National Authorities and officials to fully concentrate on their priority and area of expertise – the Event itself,” Ms Schlosser said.

DB Schenkersportsevents  teams in Australia and specifically in Perth are ready to receive goods, support and service all stakeholders, athletes and teams for the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships.

Mr Beazley urges people to organise the transportation of their sailing equipment early, by contacting Lynette Fisher in Perth on +61 (0) 8 63102878 or by email lynette.fisher@dbschenker.com.
