Dany Stanisic
Dany Stenisic has been sailing since he was nine, but has relished the opportunity to take part in the Perth 2011 Emerging Nations Programme given his belief that “you can never get taught enough” or gain too much experience.
Having competed competitively in both gymnastics and swimming, Dany can also claim sporting pedigree from his aunty (his mother’s twin sister) who is a 12 times world champion in parachuting and paraski.
Dany sails the Laser craft and became European Champion in this discipline at Izola in Slovenia in 2005.
He kicked off his involvement with the ENP with a bang by winning a silver medal at the 2009 RPYC Mini Series on the first day of the very first ENP - 21 November 2009.
He says the Emerging Nations Programme has helped him see where he needs to improve and the level that he needs to be at to compete on the world stage.
“I think I made a big step in my sailing here because all this camp it pushes me forward to work more and become faster and faster to be the best for myself.”
