Day 8 Women’s RS:X - Israel’s Lee Korzits holds the lead at the end of Gold fleet racing

Published on 10/12/11

Just eight points separate the three sailors, ensuring each is guaranteed a medal as well as a place in RS:X history.

Korzits placed fourth and third Saturday but remains on top overall, closely followed by Alabau, with Noceti-Klepacka third.

When asked about her achievement so far, Korzits said she was glad to be perpetuating a good name for her country.

“Tomorrow I will work very hard to bring out the Israeli flag and hear our national song. Most of the time Israel is only known for its problems and I’d really like to be the one to put Israel on the map for doing sport and enjoying life,” Korzits said.

Israel will be well-represented in Sunday’s Medal Race with Maayan Davidovich (ISR) managing to move up three places and finish in the top ten.

But it was Noceti-Klepacka’s day today, with her winning both race nine and race 10.

The solid sea breeze also helped Olha Maslivets (UKR), who finished third.

The Women’s RS:X Medal Race is scheduled to start at 1510hrs local time on Centre Course.
