International Athletes Increase Skills at Emerging Nations Programme–Camp 2
Welcome to the November edition of The Dream Begins in Perth, the official monthly enewsletter of Perth 2011.
The Emerging Nations Programme (ENP) is an initiative of Perth 2011 intended to increase the participation of nations that were not represented in any sailing discipline at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
The second ever ENP Camp begins this month. The 12 athletes Perth 2011 has invited to ENP – Camp 2 will train under Head ENP Coaches 2000 Sydney Olympics Gold Medal winner (470s) Belinda Stowell and former 2008 Beijing Olympic Coach and former World Number 1 Arthur Brett.
These athletes come from developing sailing nations and are on the cusp of qualifying at Olympic level in their chosen sailing event, although due to circumstances at home such as a lack of quality training facilities, limited access to quality coaching methods and difficult conditions, they have never quite reached their potential.
ENP Camp 1 was a tremendous success and it was wonderful to see the camaraderie between the nine athletes who came from eight different nations. Perth 2011 looks forward to meeting the next group of athletes, who will be aiming to qualify for the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships and potentially gain a place for their nation at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Thank you for your continuing support of the Championships.
The Dream Begins in Perth!
Best Wishes,
John Longley AM

PERTH 2011 ANNOUNCES THE AOT GROUP AS NEW partner
Late last week, Perth 2011 announced The AOT Group as its preferred accommodation provider. As pictured, Director Commercial Operations Darren Beazley (left) and The AOT Group Managing Director Mark Campbell (right), met in Perth to make the announcement.
The AOT Group was selected after a comprehensive tender process, and will provide quality service to accommodate the thousands of spectators, 4,000 official personnel and more than 1,400 international athletes who are expected to arrive in Western Australia, for the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships.
An Event of this size requires travel professionals with the relevant expertise and The AOT Group has a proven track record in managing large group bookings and providing quality service to meet the differing needs of thousands of people.
Perth 2011 encourages all athletes, officials, spectators and visitors to the Event to book their accommodation through the Accommodation section of the new Perth 2011 website – www.perth2011.com.

The RHIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat) tender application process is progressing and is being managed by Perth 2011 Sales Manager Peter Bowman.
Perth 2011 is in the market to purchase 23 RHIBs (two have already been acquired, as pictured). Perth 2011 Aligned Charities
During October, Perth 2011 invited not-for-profit organisations to submit Expressions of Interest to become Perth 2011 Aligned Charities. Several applications have been received and will be considered in the next few weeks. Charities with an alignment to maritime endeavours and the environment, and with a Western Australian focus, will be considered favourably.
Although Perth 2011 is a not-for-profit organisation (not a charity) it has many objectives and activities similar to those of a charity, such as - community, social and environmental responsibility, volunteer training and community engagement programmes. The opportunities to work together and achieve common goals are endless.
An announcement regarding Perth 2011 aligned charities is expected to be made prior to Christmas this year.

Crown Prince Frederik Sails in Zhik
Some months ago Zhik got a call from World Champ Tasar sailors, Rob and Nicole Douglass.
"We are helping Chris Meehan set up a Tasar for Prince Frederik", Rob said, "bring your gear down to the club".
Chris tested the gear and loved it. He then suggested Zhik put something special together for the World Masters Games. As you may have seen in the press lately, both Chris and Frederik looked sensational in it, with Denmark's flags blazing.
"Zhik is very proud to have royal approval of our technical dinghy gear", said Zhik's Brian Conolly.
"We are hopeful Prince Frederik has time to do more dinghy sailing".
As an official supplier to Perth 2011, Zhik is the brand of choice for your sailing requirements.
