Media Centre

The Media Centre for accredited media covering the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships is in the Drill Hall of Notre Dame University on Mouat St, Fremantle. It is a substantial brick building with a south facing glass wall opening on to a courtyard which will be used as an outdoor leisure area for accredited media. The building has a high ceiling and is a light, airy and open workspace.

 
The media centre is within easy walking distance of the Fremantle Inner Harbour course, Bathers Bay medal course and spectator area, Esplanade Park, the Royal Perth Yacht Club Annexe, Challenger and Endeavour boat parks. A shuttle transport system will link more distant venues, but none is further than two kilometres from the media centre.

The Media Centre will provide a large, flexible working area for 250-300 media, including a separate section for photographers.  Every workspace will have a double power outlet and free WiFi access will be available throughout the Media Centre.  Lockers will be available.

The Media Centre will be the headquarters for the Perth 2011 Communications team and ISAF media representatives as well as the News and Results editorial team.

Major Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships and ISAF news conferences are expected to be held in a fully equipped 300-seat auditorium in Cliff Street adjacent to the Media Centre.  However, briefing sessions and one-on-one interviews will be held in the Media Centre.

The media centre will open before the Opening Ceremony to provide a basic service for media covering competitor preparations and training. During competition, the centre will open three hours before racing starts and will close no earlier than three hours after the last race of the day.
