World Champions will be decided in Perth, and if that isn't enough, seventy five per cent of nations to compete at the 2012 London Olympic Games will earn their places at Perth 2011. The remaining 25 per cent will be finalised at the respective class World Championships, in early 2012.

In 1987, the America's Cup Defence was held on the waters off Fremantle, with international sailors vying for sailing's most prestigious trophy. This event showcased Fremantle to the international scene as a world-class sailing venue. Our beautiful city is renowned for being one of the windiest in the world - an ideal venue for sailing events of this calibre.

Perth 2011 is expected to be three times bigger than the America's Cup Defence. This Regatta will be held at Fremantle between Bathers Bay, Challenger Harbour and Success Harbour and will attract 1,400 international competitors, 5,000 official personnel and hundreds of thousands of visitors to Western Australia.

In Fremantle, spectators will feel the excitement and be blown away as competitors bring the exhilarating action in very close to the shore. As the Event unfolds, about 600 million viewers worldwide are expected to follow coverage of the Event on the television and through the Internet.

Perth 2011 would like to say thank you to the Federal Government, Eventscorp and to its partners, sponsors, official suppliers and supporters for their ongoing assistance in bringing this exciting Event onto the world stage.

Remember, The Dream Begins in Perth!
