3rd - 18th December 2011

In 2011, the eyes of the sailing fraternity will once again be on Fremantle as the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships come to Perth. Well over 1,400 international athletes will battle for the World Championship in their chosen class and compete to qualify their nation for the 2012 London Olympic Games Sailing Competition.
The Event will be held at the start of summer and weather conditions are likely to be conducive to exciting racing - with strong wind and favourable waves. The "Fremantle Doctor",
as it is known to locals, will set in each afternoon - a breeze that cools Perth after the heat of a summer's day.
Perth is renowned for being one of the windiest cities in the world, so expect fast-paced, adrenaline pumping racing on the courses.
Racing will be held at Centre (Bathers Bay), South Beach, Harbour, Success, Parmelia, Owen and Leighton Courses.
Tens of thousands of spectators on the shores and an expected 600 million television and online viewers worldwide will follow the anticipation, thrills and spills of the two-week Championship.
Spectators will be able to get just metres from the action as sailors bring their craft close into the shore as they compete for Olympic glory. Remember, the Dream Begins in Perth!
