Belinda Stowell
Belinda Stowell is an Olympic Gold Medallist from the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and continued to compete in the 470 Women's class through to Athens Olympic Games in 2004.
The opportunity to give back to the sport came through the chance to set up a High Performance Sailing programme in Perth, Western Australia.
She is the Head Coach of the Sailing programme at the Western Australian Institute of Sport. The programme is now one of the best in Australia and is growing each year. Belinda has been able to pass on her experiences from being an athlete under the greatest 470 coach, Victor Kovalenko, and develop her coaching style and sailors.
She coached Belinda Kerl and Chelsea Hall from WA to a gold medal at the ISAF Youth World Championships in 2006, and continues to inspire and motivate athletes in WA to follow the Olympic dream and to be the best in the world at their sport. Belinda also worked with Elise Rechichi and Tessa Parkinson in the lead up to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, supporting Australian Sailing Team Head Coach Victor Kovalenko in coaching and mentoring the girls to their Gold Medal win.
Belinda continues to compete in sailing having changed to the windsurfer, competing at a national level in the Neil Pryde RS:X class.
